The RIELLA GROUP, a property and logistics firm in Lagos has donated relief materials and foodstuff to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Abagena camp, Benue state.
The camp is located about 5 kilometers away from Makurrdi, the state capital.
The company donated 100 bags of pure water including rice, beans, eggs, and also gave out scholarship to children at the IDP camp.
Presenting the materials in Benue, Mr Itiza Imojime Isaac the General Manager of the company disclosed that, the company came all the way from Lagos to identify and show concern with the IDPs.
“Our presence here is not only to present this donation but to show concern about the plight of the people. With the turnout today and what we have seen here, we will not stop here. We will mobilize others on the need to support government in assisting you and making your stay comfortable in the camp,
Explaining the rationale behind the donation, the Managing director of the company Mrs. Gabriella Azonabor, said “it is a way of giving back to the society and that the real destroyer of the liberties of the people is he who spreads among them bounties, donations and benefits.
She said the company has continued to play a major role in alleviating the needs of the people in its immediate society.
“We are not stopping here. We will do more as the year runs by. The company is a new company and in our consistent tradition, we will be moving round to contribute our own quota in alleviating needs.”
An official at the IDP Camp who received the donation in the presence of the IDPs, thanked the company for the gesture.
He said the items would be put to judicious use.
“In this camp, all donations are presented in presence of all the IDPs like we have witnessed today. Immediately the donations are made, the IDPs take charge by themselves,” IDP official said.
